We have big news! AOCM is now “Bellis.” Why Bellis? It’s a pretty name, a simple name. And it doesn’t carry any assumptions or associations — which is how we’d love the world around us to perceive adoption – with an open mind and heart. Bellis comes from the Latin word for “Beautiful.” And it’s the name of the genus of flowers that includes daisies and sunflowers. These flowers are sturdy and hopeful – like anyone who participates in an adoption plan. And – just think of meadows and fields – daisies and sunflowers are never, ever alone. And I think we all relate to the comfort we find through our Bellis community – we are all in this together!
